California League Names Chief Congressional Lobbyist

The California CU League has named Kelly Purcell as its new chief congressional lobbyist.

Purcell who has worked on congressional issues since joining the league in 2003, will succeed Chris Kerecman, who left the league last year, as head of congressional affairs. The league also said it plans to hire a Washington-based lobbyist to supplement its congressional advocacy work.

The promotion of Purcell is the latest move in the reorganization of the league's lobbying, which has included the appointment of statehouse lobbyist Bob Arnould to head the lobbying office, and the promotion of Ron Fong to head the statehouse lobbing office in Sacramento.
