Cardtronics Plans Multi-PurposeATMs
HOUSTON - (03/01/06) -- Cardtronics Inc., the nation'slargest operator of ATMs and a major credit union partner, saidTuesday it plans to introduce hybrid cash machines this spring thatwill combine traditional cash dispensing with cash acceptance andother services. Cardtronics plans to operate the program inconjunction with Info Touch Technologies Corp., which providesfinancial service kiosks. In addition to making a pilot program ofthe new ATM available in select U.S. markets this spring, a totalmanaged solution that includes hardware, software, andadministration services will also be offered. This program willallow retail merchants to offer their customers the functionalityof not only an ATM, but also a broad range of other financialservices like: bill payment, wireless phone top-ups, long distance,mobile content and other pin based products, gift card purchases,stored value card dispensing and stored value card reloading.Cardtronics will own and operate the new hybrid ATMs, with InfoTouch providing processing services for all functions other thancash dispensing. Cardtronics, which operates almost 26,000 ATMs,has made deep inroads into the credit union market in recent years,providing access to credit unions over the Credit Union 24 andAllpoint networks.
