BROOKFIELD, Wis. - (05/04/05) -- Fiserv and Metavante announcedTuesday they have agreed to a deal connecting the two largestprivate-sector check clearing networks in the country as part ofthe new market facilitated by the new Check 21 law. The deal willestablish a system of connectivity between Fiserv Clearing Networkand Metavante's Endpoint Exchange Network to allow for theelectronic exchange of check data and images between the two giantnetworks. A pilot of the connection is scheduled for the thirdquarter. Following the pilot, more than 4,000 credit unions andbanks that are customers of Fiserv for account and check processingwill be able to exchange images with Endpoint Exchange's 4,000financial institution members.
