Chicago FHLB Names New Chief

CHICAGO - (09/07/04) -- The Federal Home Loan Bank ofChicago last week appointed Mike Thomas, a long-time local banker,as its new president and chief executive officer. Thomas, 53, hasbeen an independent financial advisor for the past few years andspent almost 20 years as a top executive with First Chicago Corp.Thomas will succeed Alex Pollock, the chief architect of the FHLBs'secondary market Mortgage Partnership Finance program, who left thebank in June to become a resident scholar at the AmericanEnterprise Institute, a conservative Washington thin tank. TheChicago bank has 707 members, including 57 creditunions.
