Collapsing Roof At SunState FCU Spares CUEmployees

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - (07/14/05) -- Employees at SunState FCU wereevacuated safely from the credit union's downtown offices Tuesdayafternoon after the roof caved in on the building. No members wereinside the branch and no one was injured when the roof collapsedaround 3:30 pm, credit union officials said. The building collapseleft a gaping 25-foot hole, strewn with crushed ceiling tile,silver-colored air ducts and shredded yellow insulation, in themiddle of the building. Employees were not allowed back into thestructure to gather their personal belongings because safetyofficials feared the building was not stable. The part of theceiling that collapsed was over the lobby of the branch. The partcovering the administrative offices was unaffected. The cause ofthe collapse was under investigation.
