Colo. Courage Classic Raises More Money

More than 300 credit union volunteers gave their time and effort to the just-completed Courage Classic, a 162-mile bike tour through the mountains of Summit County, Colo.

Started 15 years ago by Colorado credit unions and the Colorado Credit Union League, the Courage Classic has raised more than $5.8 million in net proceeds for The Children's Hospital, which serves 13 states as a regional pediatric center. Hundreds of riders from Colorado and Wyoming credit unions and the Colorado Credit Union League, including several credit union CEOs, participated in the event.

"Once again it was a great year for the Courage Classic and the riders and volunteers who made this a safe and successful event," said John Dill, League president/CEO. "The Colorado Credit Union League and participating credit unions are pleased to be able to contribute to this worthwhile cause."

As part of the tour, The Children's Hospital held special programs to recognize credit unions and the League for their financial support and key role in creating and building the Courage Classic over the years. Julie Freed, formerly with Jeffco Schools Credit Union, was given special recognition for her participation and commitment as a volunteer every year since the tour's inception in 1990.
