FRESNO, Calif. - (08/31/04) -- Community groups here are seeking tolure a credit union to open a branch on this city's west side. TheFresno West Coalition for Economic Development is trying to makethe case for a credit union to come into its community. The groupnoted that although there are two bank branches just a few blocksfrom the neighborhood, both are on the other side of a majorfreeway, which makes them inconvenient for most residents. Thegroups also said that many of the community's residents distrustbanks.
