La. CUs Raise $45,000 For CULAC

NEW ORLEANS-Through the efforts made by credit union professionals and volunteers during the "CULAC Challenge," Louisiana credit unions raised more than $45,000 for the Credit Union Legislative Action Committee.

LCUL Announces Marketing Awards

NEW ORLEANS-The Louisiana Credit Union League's Excellence in Marketing Awards were presented to: Louisiana Public Health Works FCU, Monroe Telco FCU, and Barksdale FCU for best newsletter; Geismar Complex FCU, Lafayette Schools' FCU, and Campus FCU for best annual report; Valex FCU, Breco FCU, and CSE FCU for best website.

Silent Auction Held At MCUN

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.-The Minnesota Family Involvement Council (FIC) held its annual silent auction at the Minnesota Credit Union Network and raised $7,176. Guest auctioneer Frank Diekmann, CU Journal editor and co- publisher, conducted the live auction, which included a signed jersey from Minnesota Wild hockey player Darby Hendrickson, a framed print of the first U.S. credit union, and a handmade quilt. The money raised will benefit FIC's scholarship program.

SECU's Lizard Hats Get Heads Up

RALEIGH, N.C.-State Employees' Credit Union promoted its Zard teen financial education program by wearing lizard hats at all 148 branches. The attention from the hat promotion allowed the credit union to reach the parents of potential Zard members. Z-Shares, Z-checking, ZARD Cards, Money Matterz, and a teen website are just a few of the program highlights.

LCU Breaks Ground For New Office

Leyden Credit Union held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of its new office building in Franklin Park, Ill.

Robins FCU Promotes Reading

WARNER ROBINS, Ga.-Robins Federal Credit Union partnered with Lindsey Elementary and Pearl Stephens School in a weekly, volunteer reading program. Credit union employees volunteered more than 55 hours, and presented books to the students.

MCUL Raises $24,000 For CMN

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-The Michigan Credit Union League held its 4th annual silent auction and raised $17,000 to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. An additional $7,000 was raised at its 8th annual Michigan CU System Invitational Golf Outing.

USAFCU Awards 5 Scholarships

SAN DIEGO, Calif.-USA Federal Credit Union awarded $7,500 in scholarships to Jennifer Bresnahan, Leilani Johnson, Alexis Dassier, Agnes Zapata, and Sabrina Perrino.

BECU Awards 38 Scholarships

SEATTLE-Boeing Employees' Credit Union awarded 38 $2,000 scholarships to its student members. "We select high school and college students who are dedicated to helping others through their volunteer work," said Tara Cramer, director of the BECU Foundation.

PCUL Helps Habitat For Humanity

HARRISBURG, Penn.-Through the combined efforts of the Pennsylvania Credit Union League, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and the Pennsylvania Builders Association, a Harrisburg Habitat for Humanity house was built and dedicated.

MAX FCU Awards 10 Scholarships
