Credit Unions In Their Communities

* The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, Harrisburg, named Samuel Wilson winner as 2006 Credit Union Youth Ambassador of Pennsylvania.

In additional news, PCUA presented publication awards to Keystone United Methodist FCU, Erie Community CU, and AmeriChoice FCU. Annual report awards went to Blackhawk FCU, Mennonite Financial FCU and TruMark Financial CU. Website awards went to Keystone United Methodist FCU, Fairless CU and Sun East FCU.

And Desjardins Youth Financial Education Awards were given to Members 1st FCU, AmeriChoice FCU, LANCO FCU and Blackhawk FCU.

* Kent County Credit Union, Grand Rapids, Mich., awarded Catherine Leiber and Shaynon Munn $1,000 college scholarships.

* Point Loma Credit Union, San Diego, donated more than $4,000 to the Optimist Club and the Children's Rainforest Project to benefit the renovation of the Kaiser Permanente Hospital's pediatric ward.

* Hamilton Sundstrand FCU, Windsor Locks, Conn., sponsored a visit by State Treasurer Denise Nappier to Enfield High School to talk to students about saving money.

Oregon Community Credit Union, Eugene, participated in a three-day radiothon that raised more than $50,000 for the Children's Miracle Network.

Four members of the Tobyhanna Army Depot FCU were awarded with trips to Las Vegas and New York City as a part of the prize drawings held at its annual meeting in Scranton, Penn.

Pen Air FCU, Pensacola, Fla., sponsored a golf tournament and raised $35,000 for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Peoples Choice CU, Biddeford, Maine, contributed $5,000 to six York County food pantries.

Horizons FCU, Binghamton, N.Y., held a chicken barbecue and raised $650 for the American Cancer Society.

In Newport News, Va., Langley FCU introduced SuperSaver, the credit union's Constellation Club mascot to help promote youth financial literacy.

Ent Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., pledged $10,000 to support the construction of Pikes Peak Regional Hospital.

Bayer Federal Credit Union, Elkhart, Ind., teamed up with local law enforcement for a Safe Kid's Day event that included a drawing for two new bicycles.

Progressions Credit Union, Spokane, Wash., participated in the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive.

In Saugus, Mass., Saugus Federal Credit Union presented a $2,200 donation to the Credit Unions of Massachusetts Kids at Heart program, which is coordinated by Eastern Corporate FCU.

CFE Federal Credit Union, Orlando, Fla., participated in the Annual Insurance Offices of America's Corporate 5K Run and helped raise $11,000 for Florida On the Move.

North Jersey FCU, Totowa, N.J., was presented with a 70th anniversary plaque from New Jersey Credit Union League President Robert Walls.

Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, Texas, held its 2nd Annual Summer Solutions Fair to help kids of all ages and their parents plan their summer vacation.

Advance Financial FCU, East Chicago, Ind., participated in A Day With Our Youth picnic by donating the cost of a bicycle giveaway.
