Cop Survives Parking LotShoot-Out

PHOENIX - (12/15/04) -- A Phoenix police officer survived abullet to the chest during a shoot-out in the Arizona Central CUparking lot Monday night only because he was wearing a bulletproofvest. The officer's partner then shot the assailant to death beforehe could fire again. The fallen officer, identified as MichaelBurzynski, was not injured because of his body armor, police toldThe Credit Union Journal. The two officers had arrived at thecredit union to arrest the assailant, Raymond Ruiz, who was wantedon several charges.
