Credit Unions Still Working To ContactEmployees

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - (08/17/04) Four days after Hurricane Charley hitFlorida's west coast and Orlando areas hard, credit unions werestill making efforts to reach all their employees and account fortheir safety. Much of the difficulty has to do with phone linesthat remain out of order. Meanwhile, the branch of Suncoast SchoolsFCU here is up and running on a generator. Tampa-based SuncoastSchools is hoping to have its branch in Wauchula, Fla. open today.Another branch in hard-hit Punta Gorda will likely not open untillater this week, also on generator power. Meanwhile, ATMs for somecredit unions remain down due to damage to phone lines. SuncoastSchools was sending 20 employees from other branches to assistthose where employees are dealing with their own personalsituations.
