CUJ News Review: Video A Finalist; Deposits Flow In

WesCorp's video production of "Living the Dream: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Credit" has been recognized as a finalist in the 23rd Annual Telly Awards competition, which showcases non-network and cable TV commercials, film and video productions.

Living the Dream is a 20-minute documentary capturing the spirit of the credit union movement, WesCorp noted, and shows how credit unions continue to make a difference in communities throughout the U.S., and spotlights three credit union members who share their personal stories of how credit unions made a difference in their lives.

It was distributed on a complimentary basis to WesCorp members. Credit unions in 35 states reported using the video for employee training, SEG presentations and in-branch presentations. Separately, the $17-billion WesCorp reported that as of the end of March, it had $8.3 billion in certificates outstanding, $1.6 billion of which was booked during the month. The figures are a record for WesCorp certificate purchases.WesCorp noted that credit unions have also begun choosing longer-term certificates as they seek yield, as the overnight rate is 1.75% while three- and four-year rates are 4% and 5%.
