CUNA Joins FBI, Coaches In Child I.D. Initiative

CUNA helped kick off a new program last week that will help credit unions provide fingerprint identification kits to parents in an effort to thwart child abductions.

Under the program, in which CUNA joins the American Football Coaches Association, the FBI and the National Child Identification Program, credit unions and state leagues will make the fingerprint kits available to parents and communities. The new initiative is an extension of CUNA's and credit unions' efforts to expand their community outreach.

The initiative was introduced last week during a Capitol Hill news conference attended by Ed Smart, father of Elizabeth Smart, whose two-year abduction ended happily when she was found near her Salt Lake City home, as well as several members of Congress.
