CUNA Mutual Group has introduced a new web application to help policyholder credit unions reduce check fraud.
"Check Fraud Protection eLearning provides credit union front-line staff with risk management knowledge and techniques to help them identify and prevent losses and handle difficult and uncertain situations," the company said.
Check Fraud Protection eLearning replaces CUNA Mutual's Check Fraud CD-ROM, and can be accessed via www.cunamutual.com.
"Incidents of check fraud and resulting losses at credit unions continue to increase. Credit unions can help prevent these crimes by educating staff about check fraud and training employees to spot obvious signs of such behavior," said Marc Krasnick, senior VP, CU Protection.
The Check Fraud Protection eLearning course is comprised of three 30-minute modules:
* Protecting Against Check Fraud: Member Interaction-helps identify typical tactics of check fraud scam artists and describes how to defend the credit union against them.
* Protecting Against Check Fraud: Reg CC- teaches staff how using check holds can protect their credit union from check fraud losses.
* Recognize and Prevent Common Check Fraud Schemes.
