CUs Lose 'Great Friend'

The death of Rep. Robert Matsui (D-CA) means credit unions have lost a "great friend," according to the California league. Matsui, 63, died of Myelodysplatic Syndrome, which weakens the immune system. "Robert Matsui was a dedicated public servant in the true sense of the word, and a man of great character," said CCUL President David Chatfield. "We will miss his presence in our nation's capital, and working with him there and in his Sacramento district." In July, Matsui addressed a delegation of more than 60 CU leaders from California and Nevada at Credit Union House in Washington, D.C., as part of a two-day League advocacy trip.
