Deluxe Posts Lower Earnings

ST. PAUL, Minn. - (04/27/06) – Deluxe Corp., the largest U.S.printer of checks, Tuesday posted lower first-quarter profit, hurtby declines in its personal check businesses. Net income fell to$25 million, or 48 cents per share, from $39 million, or 78 centsper share, a year earlier. First quarter revenues declined 6% to$411 million, with lower revenue per order and lower order volumein its personal check businesses offsetting an increase in revenuefrom its small business services unit. The company said it istransforming its business and growing its presence in the smallbusiness area, led by new CEO Lee Schram, who joined the companyfrom NCR Corp. last month.
