Donation Creates 'CU Week' At Williamsburg

PSCU Financial Services and First Data Western Union Foundation have jointly donated $100,000 to fund educational programs for students and seminars for teachers conducted by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The Foundation is a not-for-profit institution that preserves and operates the restored 301-acre Colonial Williamsburg site and produces educational materials related to the founding of the United States as a nation and life in the 18th century.

Half of the joint contribution will pay for interactive electronic field trips for students and resource kits that include educational tools and lessons for classroom instruction. The remaining half of the gift will underwrite the newly established Credit Union Week at the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute. This grant allows 25 teachers to attend-at no charge-an intensive week-long seminar at Colonial Williamsburg, in Williamsburg, Va.

Seminar participants learn innovative methods for communicating the principles of America's unique history and system of government and can prepare new instructional materials for use in their own classrooms. The Credit Union Week is scheduled for Aug. 2-9. The grant provides more than $2,000 for each teacher.
