EECU Offering Members E-Mail Alerts On Various Activities

EECU is now offering its members free e-mail alerts. Members can sign up through the $560-million EECU's home banking product to have e-mails sent about account activity by choosing the type of alert they want to receive. The e-mail is automatically sent when those conditions are met, and also works with cellphone text messaging and PDAs.

"Members find value in this service because we're giving them timely information about their account activity," said Bill Burrows, EECU's senior vice president and chief information officer. "For example, we can alert members when their direct deposit has been posted to their account or when funds have been transferred from another account to cover an overdraft."

Other alert options include direct deposit postings, specific check clearings, non-sufficient funds, late loan payments and address changes. Members can even receive alerts based on account balances and activity; for example, the member can choose to be notified when their checking account balance falls below a specific dollar amount.

"We think this new service will be popular with our members. We've only had EZ Alerts for a few months and already, we have over 1,000 members signed up," Burrows noted. (c) 2006 The Credit Union Journal and SourceMedia, Inc. All Rights Reserved. http://www.cujournal.com http://www.sourcemedia.com
