Firm Plans Contactless Biometric PaymentFob

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - (07/06/06) – Biometric device developerPrivaris Inc. said it plans to introduce a contactless biometricpayment fob to enable both physical point-of-sale and Internettransactions by year end. The finger-shaped device, called plusID,is the first contactless key fob secured by fingerprints. The firmsaid it is in discussions with several financial institutions andtransaction processors for a roll-out. The plusID features afingerprint sensor, which a user touches to a POS machine toinitiate a transaction. The fob will plus into a USB port on apersonal computer for Internet transactions. Privaris expects tosell the plusID at $100 each.
