Florida CUs Get Expanded MembershipPowers

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - (05/10/05) – State chartered credit unionswill get new field of membership powers under a law passed by thestate legislature last week, the first rewrite of the state’sstatute in 23 years. The new law provides parity with federallychartered community credit unions by allowing state charteredcommunity credit unions to serve anyone residing in, working in orworshipping in a well-defined community. Gov. Bush is expected tosign the bill into law.
