Cheered on by nearly 1,000 attendees at the 25th anniversary benefit of the National CU Foundation, NCUF Board member Bob Schumacher sang The Temptations' greatest hits with original singer Dennis Edwards and the Temptations Revue. To surprise him with this spot onstage, Schumacher's colleagues, led by fellow NCUF Board member RoxAnne Kruger-Monahan, raised $11,000 at a live auction for NCUF's Disaster Relief Fund. The live auction at CUNA's Future Forum, combined with NCUF's first-ever online auction, raised another $52,000 for disaster relief. NCUF has now raised a total of $1.5 million for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Minnesota's CUs Team Up On Web-Based Auto Service
ST. PAUL, Minn.-The Minnesota Credit Union Network is joining with Credit Union Discount Auto Services to roll out a new web-based auto-buying service at www.cudas.biz. "CUDA is a central marketing system that provides Internet auto shopping and indirect lending exclusively for members of Minnesota credit unions," said the MCUN. "Through CUDA's web site, credit union members can obtain guaranteed below-advertised prices on new and used automobiles being sold by participating Twin Cities auto dealers. CUDA's website is linked with various auto dealers, making discounted vehicles available while simultaneously generating loans for the credit union. The website shows thousands of heavily-discounted vehicles and provides tools to assist credit union members in their search for a specific vehicle."
One feature of the service is the CU Member Price Certificate, which can be printed from the website to "lock in" the special member's price. The certificate includes the name of the credit union, the personal contact at the dealer, and the vehicle information for the specific car. Members purchasing used vehicles will receive a free third-party vehicle report.
