BEAUMONT, Texas - (02/02/05) -- The former president of Tex-US CU,formerly known as American Synpol Employees CU, was sentenced to 30months in prison for embezzling more than $500,000 from the PortNeches credit union. Dora Ganey, 50, was also ordered to pay$502,000 in restitution. Ganey stole about $330,000 in 2003 by acheck scheme in which she had checks issued phony checks to creditunion vendors and supplies then used the money to go gambling at aLouisiana riverboat casino. Later she stole another $156,000 byfalsifying accounts at her own teller station.
