OROVILLE, Calif. - (06/16/06) A foster parent who claimed heturned to a life of crime to avoid his family being harmed by adrug dealer he owed money was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years inprison. Edward Sullivan, 50, wore a mask and used what turned outto be an air pistol in at least eight hold-ups, including robberiesat Star CU and Butte County Postal Employees CU, as well as a CheckInto Cash outlet. Sullivan told police he committed the robberiesto pay off a drug dealer who had threatened to harm him and hisfamily.
