Foundation Laid For New CUNA Mutual

Credit unions leaders began getting some of their first details on the changes being made at CUNA Mutual when the company held its annual Discovery Conference here last week.

CUNA Mutual CEO Jeff Post, attending just his second Discovery Conference as he is 18 months into the job, used the meeting to explain CUNA Mutual's overhaul of its delivery of customer service programs, including the opening of a large customer operations center near Ft. Worth that is set to be at least partially operational by year-end.

"Feedback from you and our employees helped shape our need for change," Post told the 1,200 in attendance for the meeting. "You've told us we must be easier to do business with, operate more efficiently, deliver better customer service and sharpen our focus and improve the products we provide," Post said. "We've laid the foundation of the New CUNA Mutual, a company that builds on its past strengths, maintains its connection to the cooperative movement and increases the value it provides to customers."

Steve Wynn, the man who almost single-handedly created today's Las Vegas, was the keynote speaker at Discovery's opening session. His address, "Inspired to Wynn," focused on businesses differentiating themselves in a changing marketplace. The Discovery meeting was held at Wynn's new billion-dollary Wynn Hotel on the Vegas strip. The Credit Union Journal will provide expanded coverage of the meeting.
