EAGAN, Minn. - (08/13/04) -- City officials gave their approvalfor a unique design for the new branch of Wings Financial FCU(formerly Northwest Airlines FCU) which will be shaped like anairplane hangar. The 5,300 square-foot branch will be located justoff of Yankee Doodle Drive and will feature a metal panel and brickexterior with a large glass wall on its north side resembling thedoor to an airplane hangar. The top of the building will berounded-off, hangar-like, with a tower resembling a control tower.The facility is being designed by HTG Architects of Eden Prairie,which has designed other credit union and bank branches. Theunusual facility was approved by the city's planning commissionlast month and by the city council Aug. 2. Construction is slatedto begin in September, with completion of the branch eyed for nextMarch.
