Harland Co. said it will bepilot testing a new check fraud solution that will allow creditunions and banks to prevent the forgery of the maker's signature.The self-authenticating solution will use image processing, dataencoding and encryption, digital printing and statisticalvalidation software to allow financial institutions and merchantsto validate signatures at any time and any place. Harland isdeveloping the solution with its strategic partner, Mitek Systems,, from which it acquired certain assets earlier thisyear.
