Harvey Named CUES Exec Of The Year

Robert H. Harvey, Jr., president/CEO of Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union, has been named the 2003 CUES Executive of the Year.

The presentation was made during a special awards banquet at CUES' 25th annual CEO Network held at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort here.

Accepting his award, Harvey thanked his board and offered tribute to his staff saying, "The reason we get to be here for this meeting is that at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning someone back home is going to open that front door."

He added,"We at credit unions, we're the last of the good guys. And, I'm glad I can be one of those good guys."

Harvey was presented with an engraved crystal award in recognition of this honor by last year's CUES Executive of the Year, Gary Base, CEO at Community Credit Union, Plano, Texas.

Harvey has been in credit union management for more than 20 years. Just over a decade ago, he became president/CEO of the $380-million Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union. During his tenure, the credit union increased assets by 300%, added 125 SEGs and a statewide community charter.
