Homeless Children Get Holiday Treats FromBoston CUs

BOSTON - (12/22/04) -- More than 300 homeless childrenreceived Christmas gifts during the annual Christmas in the Citycelebration here, courtesy of the area's credit unions. Area creditunions, along with Members Mortgage Co., a credit union lender,created online 'adoption trees' that allowed credit unions andtheir members to 'adopt' and buy a Christmas gift for a homelesschild. Credit union volunteers also helped make a success of theannual party for 2,800 homeless kids and their parents living inshelters, when costumed elves delivered gifts on the children'swish lists. Among the participants were: the Massachusetts CULeague, EasCorp CU, Tremont CU, Harvard University Employees CU,MIT FCU, Industrial CU, City of Boston CU, Medical Area FCU, NewEngland Medical Center Hospital CU, Boston Firefighters CU,Telephone Workers CU, Cabot CU, Melrose School & MunicipalEmployees CU and Secure CU.
