In New York, 'I Want My MCU TV'

NEW YORK-Municpal Credit Union supports "a lot of people," about 300,000 per branch, according to MCU's Barry Grant. In the past, Municipal entertained members in overcrowded teller lines with TVs running VHS tapes.

"The VCR had stale content that drove everyone nuts," he said. Often, shows were interrupted by commercials for other financial institutions, he added.

Now members watch the new "MCU TV," which broadcasts in 35-minute loops of edited cable news and features, sprinkled with Municipal commercials. Content is refreshed twice daily.

Video content is provided by New York's Creative Bubble, a multimedia production firm. To deploy the video content, MCU used the Cisco Application and Content Networking System (ACNS) technology, which allows the CU to manage AV content through a centrally located Content Delivery Manager.
