Jury Deliver $3.2 Million Verdict AgainstCU

VISALIA, Calif. - (10/13/05) -- A Tulare County Superior Court juryon Wednesday ordered Tucoemas FCU to pay its former vice presidentof lending $3.2 million in an employment discrimination case. KimMcGee, 46, of Exeter, said she was demoted to a part-time job fromher former position as a vice president of the credit union aftershe asked for two additional weeks to recover from treatment forbreast cancer, which had included an operation as well aschemotherapy and radiation therapy. Her job had been held for herfor four months. In making the award, the jury agreed that thecredit union had failed to provide accommodations for McGee and hadreduced her wages and benefits after she was diagnosed with breastcancer. McGee had worked for the credit union for 17years.
