Katrina-Affected Credit Unions Move To Shared Branching

Credit Union Service Corporation (CUSC) said that displaced members of Jefferson Parish Employees FCU (Jefferson, La.), Keesler FCU (Biloxi, Miss.) and Sewerage and Water Board Employees FCU (New Orleans) can now access their accounts through shared branching at locations nationwide after Hurricane Katrina disabled branches and member access points. "We want to do anything we can to help these credit unions effectively serve their members during this extraordinary crisis," said CUSC CEO Carroll Beach. Keesler FCU had already been live with CUSC; Jefferson Parish EFCU had been in the process of making the move to participating in shared branching, and SWBEFCU made a decision to go with shared branching on Sept. 6.
