Long Jail Term For Armed CUBandit

GEENVILLE, S.C. - (10/27/04) -- A Rocky Mount man who was arrestedreturning home after robbing Telco CU in 2003, was sentenced lastweek to 17 years in prison for his role in the heist. LaKendrickFobbs, 28, one of four men to burst into the credit union on May30, 2003 brandishing handguns and a shotgun, one of whompistol-whipped a teller. One of the accomplices was tracked downand arrested in Indiana, while the other two were captured in thecommunity. One, Cedric Speight, 24, has pleaded guilty to federalbank robbery charges, while the other two: Nathan Petway, 26, andLamont Whitaker, 26, are awaiting trial.
