Maryland’s Prince George’s FCU Pays Cash To ‘Buckle Up’

LARGO, Md. – Representatives of Prince George’s FCU and local police are handing out $1 bills today to drivers who have all occupants buckled up as part of the "Click It or Ticket" Safety campaign.

The credit union is donating the cash and is partnering with the MVA, the Maryland State Highway Administration and Prince George's County Police.

The program is aimed at drawing attention to the value of seatbelt use in the county with the state's highest highway fatality rate. The State Highway Administration said almost 620 people died in motor vehicle crashes in the county from 2004 to 2008.

Buckled-up drivers can collect a dollar on May 11 at Capital Center Boulevard, May 16 at Woodmore Town Center, and May 18 at Bowie Town Center beginning at noon.
