MasterCard Moves Back To TheBlack

PURCHASE, N.Y. - (03/04/05) -- MasterCard Inc. reported it brokeback into the black last year after major charges related to itssettlement of the merchant class action suit forced it into the redin 2003. The card association reported net income of $238 million,or $2.38 a share, for 2004, compared to a loss of $386 million, or$3.86 a share, for 2003, which was impacted by $469 million by thesettlement of the Wall-Mart suit. Revenue for the card associationrose 14% for the year to $2.6 billion.
