Members Win With Super BowlCD

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - (01/25/05) -- Hundreds of Northeast CU membersscored with their local football team Sunday, when their bet forthe New England Patriots to qualify for the Super Bowl camethrough. Those members will see the rate on their 16-month 'SuperCD' step-up from 3.05% to 3.41%, and stand to earn evenmore--3.82%--if their team wins the NFL Championship Game Feb. 7."We're very happy, the promotion brought in a lot of new money anda lot of new members," Tony Popielarz, head of marketing at the$400 million credit union, told The Credit Union Journal. Thepromotion, which allowed members to bet on their favorite team toreach the Super Bowl, brought in $7.7 million from 647 existing andnew members between Dec. 18 and Jan. 15, he said. About 90% of theCDs were placed on the Patriots, the local team.
