Men Charged In CU TakeoverRobbery

HAYWARD, Calif. - (03/29/05)Two men have been charged infederal court with the takeover robbery of a SafeAmerica CreditUnion here that netted nearly $20,000. Court records show thatShawan Spragans, 29, and Antoine Lee Evans, 29, were arrestedshortly after allegedly robbing the credit union. Police said thatthe two men were clad in ski masks and armed with a semiautomatichandgun, and vaulted the counter. Evans allegedly grabbed acredit-union employee by the hair and pushed her to the ground,Dorman wrote. Hayward police spotted the suspects in a whiteCadillac and arrested them after they ran from the car.
