Mid-States 'Adopts' New Orleans Firemen's FCU

Mid-States Corporate FCU said it has "adopted" The New Orleans Firemen's FCU and will provide financial assistance to the credit union and their families devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Mid-States made a $10,000 contribution to relief efforts and will match collective staff contributions up to an additional $10,000. Once collected, the funds will go directly to the credit union and their families.

"Knowing that someone who does not even know you has taken it upon themselves to help is true proof that the 'people helping people' philosophy that we try to live by is alive and well today," said Judy S. DeLucca, chief executive officer, NOFFCU.

Mid-States has also collected canned goods and non-perishable food items, and donated laptop computers to the Louisiana Credit Union League.

In addition, Mid-States has put in place an "Adopt the Kids" Christmas project, which the corporate has already begun implementing for the NOFFCU families. Mid-States employees are providing toys and clothes for the children affected by the tragedy.
