Military CUs Branch Into Local Communities

Barksdale FCU, which was chartered to serve military personnel at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, has received approval from NCUA to branch into local communities.

The $500-million credit union is now authorized to serve 400,000 residents in low-income communities in the Shreveport-Bossier City area. Also, Security Service FCU, San Antonio, originally founded around Kelly Air Force Base, was approved to serve 150,000 residents in low-income communities in Pueblo County, Colo.

Separately, NCUA also approved a request from Potlatch No. 1 FCU, Lewiston, Idaho to serve 200,000 residents in low income communities in nearby Idaho communities.
