NCR Rights Itself

Dayton, Ohio - (10/29/04) -- ATM manufacturer NCR Corp. saidthird quarter earnings more than doubled to $44 million, or 46cents a share, compared to last year's third quarter, which wasplagued by a $31 million hit for pension costs. Revenues advanced astrong 7% for the quarter to $1.45 billion. The company's Teradatadata warehousing unit reported a doubling of profits, fueled by a14% rise in revenues; while financial self service (ATMs) reporteda 19% rise in profitability and 25% increase in revenues. Themajority of the growth in self service revenues continues to beoverseas, the company said. Through the first three quarters NCRreported a 6% increase in revenues t $4.2 billion, and net incomeof $161 million, compared to a loss of $22 million for the firstnine months last year.
