NCUA Delivers Community DevelopmentGrants

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - (07/13/06) NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson metTuesday with Hawaii Sen. Daniel Akaka to apprise him of severalongoing agency initiatives, including the awarding of severalcommunity development grants to credit unions in the DemocraticSenators home state. NCUA recently awarded 48 new grantsacross the country for a total of $150,000 under the BuildingInternal Capacity component of the grant program. The program hasdisbursed 121 grants to far this year for a total of$295,500.
