NCUA Urges Participation In Plan

NCUA is urging credit unions to participate in the 2006 Assets for Independence Program, a federal grant program administered by the Office of Community Services (OCS), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. OCS offers five-year AFI Project grants to several categories of organizations and agencies including low-income credit unions. The AFI grant program enables community-based nonprofits and government agencies to implement an asset-based approach for helping low-income families achieve financial self sufficiency through savings programs, including Individual Development Accounts (IDAs).
