New York Foundation Backs Training On IRnet System

The New York Credit Union Foundation provided several IRnet training sessions to CUs in New York City, Long Island and Rochester at no charge.

IRnet is the International Remittance Network, which is run by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). The program is a safe, economical and convenient money transfer alternative that focuses on the international money transfer needs of both immigrants and credit unions. IRnet transfers are quicker than traditional wire services (for instance, 20 minutes to Mexico), and are paid out around the world in cash, or by checks delivered to homes.

In New York State, 20.4% of the state's residents are foreign born. In New York City alone, 36% of residents are immigrants.
