Dr. John C. Rawls, board member at Florida Credit Union in Gainesville, Fla., was named the 2005 CUES Directors Educational Forum Director of the Year during CUES' 2005 Directors Conference here.
Henry Wheatley, CCD, chairman of the board at Fort Knox Federal Credit Union in Radcliff, Ky., and recipient of the 2004 CUES DEF Director of the Year, presented Rawls with an engraved crystal trophy.
"It is always good to be recognized, especially when you do voluntary work," said Rawls in accepting the award. "We have a terrific responsibility, as a result of the tornadoes, the hurricanes and the downsizing of businesses, to ensure members don't lose faith in credit unions."
Rawls has been a member of Florida Credit Union's board of directors for more than 48 years and has served as board president, vice president, secretary, chairman and treasurer, and for nine months as interim CEO.
