First Data Corp. said its NYCE subsidiary has signed an agreement with Cardtronics Inc., of Houston, to place the NYCE trademark on 12,000 ATMs Cardtronics operates in merchant locations.
Membership in the NYCE network fits Cardtronics' strategy of offering debit card holders national ATM services. Cardtronics also likes NYCE's high transaction approval rate. This is the second major agreement NYCE has signed in three months. In July, NYCE signed an agreement with E*Trade Access, the Menlo Park, Calif.-based subsidiary of E*Trade Financial Inc. The agreement called for NYCE to place its trademark on 15,000 E*Trade-operated ATMs.
