On Deadline: CU Charters: One Up/One Down

NCUA approved a new charter for a low-income credit union in Houston. The new credit union, called Mid-Town Community Development FCU, will have a potential membership of almost 270,000 in downtown Houston, and is just the third federal credit union chartered so far this year.

At the same time, NCUA said it denied a charter for a proposed low income credit union in Hackensack, N.J., New Jersey Community Action FCU.
