One Memorable Exchange

State Employees CU CEO Jim Blaine got in most of the zingers and applause lines during a debate with ABA Chairman Ken Fergeson. But what many people will remember was the response to a question from the audience.

Audience Question: Could each of you tell us what would happen if you closed tomorrow. What would happen to your retained earnings/capital?

Blaine: We would pay it all out to our members, about one-million people.

Fergeson: We would pay it out to our shareholders.

Audience Question: And how many people is that?

Fergeson: About 15.
