Palm-Reading Scanners Can Tell The FutureOf ATMs

SAO PAOLO, Brazil - (07/17/06) – Fujitsu announced Friday it hasbegun to test-pilot its biometric palm sensor at ATMs for thelargest private bank in Latin America, Banco Bradesco S.A. Thesystem, known as PalmSecure, shines a beam of light through acustomer’s palm to read each user’s unique pattern ofveins. The sensor captures the pattern and matches it against anATM user’s pre-registered palm print to authenticate theuser’s identity. Fujitsu is also selling the scanners forsecurity in financial institutions, universities and privateresidences. The Fujitsu PalmSecure can be connected directly to theUSB port of a notebook PC, or embedded into desktop PCkeyboards.
