Papal Proceedings Delay Final BankruptcyPush

WASHINGTON - (04/06/05) -- House leaders postponed a final voteon the bankruptcy reform bill, as well as all other bills, whilescores of lawmakers travel to Rome to attend ceremoniesmemorializing Pope John Paul II. A final vote by the House on thelong-sought credit union-backed bill had been tentatively scheduledfor Thursday but is expected to be held next week, instead,according to Gary Kohn, a lobbyist for CUNA. Meantime, the HouseRules Committee was scheduled to meet Tuesday night to determinethe ground rules for the final vote on the bankruptcy bill, whichis expected to include several amendment proposals, Kohn told TheCredit Union Journal.
