Pay-By-Cell Phone Coming To A CreditUnion Near You

CHICAGO - (11/21/05) -- Discover Financial Services, theparent of PULSE EFT, said last week it is testing contactless cardtechnology that will allow its cardholders to pay by cell phones atthe point of sale. The technology will also allow Pulse andDiscover cardholders to check their card or account balances,transfer funds, and conduct other business over their mobilephones. The pay-by-phone application is fully integrated with theDiscover network and the PULSE PIN-debit network that Discoverbought earlier this year. Consumers buying cell phones will be ableto add a payment application with a Discover-network linked accountunder deals the company is currently negotiation with cell phoneretailers. The phone buyer will also be able to apply for aDiscover card when buying the phone.
