TAUNTON, Mass. - (01/26/05) -- Taunton FCU will count and roll morethan 125,000 pennies--representing victims of southeast Asia'stsunami-- collected by the local church. The pennies, collected byFirst Parish Church across the street form the credit union, wereoriginally supposed to represent each of the victims of the massivetidal waves, but the death toll has since far exceeded that. Thecredit union, which volunteered to count and roll the pennies andwrite the $1,250 check, expects the massive effort to take two orthree weeks.
